Thur Night Blog, Painting from Reference's Turn

I absolutely love going back and forth between drawing from memory and reference. Looking forward to more opportunities to Paint from life next semester with The Religious Academy but for now I am grateful to my clients for providing work for me to work from Photos. I know some day soon I will be working exclusively from life.

Absolutely LOVE the Classical Realism movement going on in Art. I love the Publisher Eric Rhoads of Streamline Publishing has over 100 Michael's Stores that will be carrying his Magazines!!! Can you image, Really good Quality in mainstream Art Stores. The Goal with The Religious Academy is to get our high quality Prints in their stores as welll. God willing it will happen, all in the Lord's time.

So this Painting is a small one, 11 X 14 or so. I am really working hard at keeping my color's clean. I watched a free video clip on Streamline Publishing's feed of Gregory Mortenson's Demo. It was amazing. He talked about the importance of switching brushes to keep colors clean. Something I am trying hard to do now and I think it's working.

At Utah State University one of the first things I learned in John Anderson's Design class was to draw draw draw. That is SO true. People that draw and paint again and again and again with added extra instruction make it so far. I see the progress in my work and I love it.

If you're interested in online classes feel free to reach out to me. I'd love to share them with you.

God Bless, Happy Painting, and remember: Michaelangelo said the greatest sign an Artist can make is to go a day without drawing. I don't want to be a sinner anymore:)
